Yaakov Teitel is facing charges in the Israeli court system for, among other things, sending a bomb disguised as a Purim gift to a Messianic Jewish family, injuring a young boy, and putting poisoned bottles of fruit juice by the side of the road near a Palestinian village. Apparently this dude (he confessed) eventually succeeded in killing 2 people, a taxi driver and a shepherd. Not cool, hope this guy gets put away.

Sarcasm: Real bad ass, man. Killing shepherds & taxi drivers. Hardcore.

Bible Study Permits in California

“On Good Friday we had an employee from San Diego County come to our house, and inform us that the Bible study that we were having was a religious assembly, and in violation of the code in the county.” David Jones told FOX News.
“We told them this is not really a religious assembly — this is just a Bible study with friends. We have a meal, we pray, that was all,” Jones said.
A few days later, the couple received a written warning that cited “unlawful use of land,” ordering them to either “stop religious assembly or apply for a major use permit,” the couple’s attorney Dean Broyles told San Diego news station 10News.

Couple Ordered to Stop Holding Bible Study at Home Without Permit

Apparently, the freedom of assembly comes second to the zoning rules of San Diego, CA. This is the same freedom of assembly that is recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (United Nations), the United States Constitution, and even the state constitution of California Article 1 Section 3 Subsection a.

This further reconfirms my prejudice that zoning boards are nothing but power hungry land grabbing bastards. Property rights are what make free societies work, eroding them erodes the base of a free society.

Moral Clarity in Gaza

Moral Clarity on the Israeli-Gaza conflict

Israel is so scrupulous about civilian life that, risking the element of surprise, it contacts enemy noncombatants in advance to warn them of approaching danger. Hamas, which started this conflict with unrelenting rocket and mortar attacks on unarmed Israelis — 6,464 launched from Gaza in the past three years — deliberately places its weapons in and near the homes of its own people.

This has two purposes. First, counting on the moral scrupulousness of Israel, Hamas figures civilian proximity might help protect at least part of its arsenal. Second, knowing that Israelis have new precision weapons that may allow them to attack nonetheless, Hamas hopes that inevitable collateral damage — or, if it is really fortunate, an errant Israeli bomb — will kill large numbers of its own people for which, of course, the world will blame Israel.

The amazing thing about this commentary, is that it is often applicable to conflicts between Israel and any of the terrorist organizations over there.

Philosophy of Liberty

This was posted 2 years ago, and I just now found it. I have now seen it 3 times, examining it closely for any idea that I even in part disagree with. The only point I have found is a minor one that can wait until you’ve seen the clip.

Back to that point, When the author says that people should stop asking their governments to initiate force on their behalf, it assumes democratic governments. Dictators pursue ownership of the life and liberty of their subjects as an objective for their own life. And may cause global atrocities without the deliberate consent of their people.
