Around 10 am, I noticed that Gmail was running really slow. So I naturally do a Google search for info on Gmail problems. Except that that was running really slow. So I go to search.twitter.com, and look for what people on Twitter are saying about ‘google’. Thousands of posts every minute about Google being totally out or extremely slow all over the world.
Info available at ReadWriteWeb. No info yet on why this happened, but it is somewhat odd that some spots in the world had no interruption in service.
UPDATE May 15: Google has posted an explanation with the characteristically cute language that their PR is famous for. Apparently they redirected a bunch of users to Asia. There’s still no word on why they did that, so it’s only a partial explanation.
